Our Location

The main office of the Interdisciplinary Studies Program is located in room 1265 in Candelaria Hall. Candelaria Hall is just northwest of Michener Library and is designated as building number 11 on this map of the UNC Campus.

The University of Northern Colorado is a student-centered teaching institution set in an ideal location, 50 miles north of Denver, 50 miles south of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and 50 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park. It offers more than 100 academic programs for undergraduate students in five colleges, the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Monfort College of Business, the College of Natural and Health Sciences, and the College of Performing and Visual Arts, many of which are nationally ranked. Candelaria Hall, one of UNC’s main classroom buildings, was completed in 1973 and named for Martin Candelaria, a professor of Spanish at UNC from 1948 to 1963. Candelaria also developed UNC’s Language Arts center.

Candelaria currently houses the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Communication, the School of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies, the School of Social Sciences, a large number of classrooms, and a large number of faculty offices.

Ross Hall, completed in 1964, was named for William R. Ross, who served as UNC’s fifth president from 1948-1964. Originally UNC’s science building, Ross Hall was expanded and renovated in 2003 and now also houses some of the programs of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Ross currently houses the School of English Language and Literature, the main offices of the School of History, Philosophy, and Political Science, all of UNC’s science programs, a large number of classrooms and labs, and a large number of faculty offices.

McKee Hall was built during the presidency of Darrell Holmes and was completed in 1968. The building was funded as a result of the shortage of nurses and teachers and named for Paul V. McKee, one of the most prominent scholars in the field of elementary education.

In addition to housing the College of Humanities and Social Sciences’ Philosophy, Political Science, and Social Science programs, McKee Hall houses the College of Education (Teacher Education Programs), Special Education, COSMOS, Psychology, Statistics, Chem Quest, Educational Technology, a large number of classrooms, and a large number of faculty offices.
