Amelie (France, 2001, 122 minutes)
Presented in partnership with the UNC French Club.
Nominated for 5 Academy Awards and winner of 2 BAFTA Awards in 2002,
the feel good Amelie is a “lively, fanciful charmer” (IMDB) from director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Showcasing Audrey Tautou as its delightful heroine, it is the story of a charming and imaginative girl who decides to change the world by changing the lives of people around her. Misdiagnosed with an unusual heart condition, Amelie didn't attend school with other children, but spent most of her time in her room, where she developed a keen imagination and an active fantasy life. With her whimsical, romantic nature, she brings happiness and love for life to people she meets as she works as a waitress in a café. Amelie is a real delight.
