Saving Face (Pakistan, 2012, 40 min.)
Alarming, disturbing, and enlightening, Saving Face reveals the atrocities of acid attacks that disfigure hundreds of Pakistani women each year.  Director Daniel Junge, known for his documentary Chiefs, records several of these afflicted women’s stories as well as the efforts of a plastic surgeon, Dr. Mohammad Jawad, who strives to improve the lives of the women that seek his medical assistance.  Winner of an Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2012 and Best Short Documentary at the 2012 International Documentary Association, Saving Face provides a true story depicting the horrors of abusive marriages, scarred women, and the hope a merciful plastic surgeon brings to their lives through his medical practice.
