Audience Award Winner at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Circumstance captures the rebellious nature of a wealthy Iranian family whose love for one another is trumped by desire and control. Written and directed by Maryam Keshavarz, the film shows how Atafeh Hakimi (Nikohl Boosheri) and Shireen Arshadi (Sarah Kazemy) live wild and free by night. By day the two women assimilate to traditional Iranian society, although they long to run away and live a life of liberation. Attending parties tucked away in shabby apartments and barbershops, the girls find that their attachment to one another develops into a forbidden romance.
