The Girl Who Played with Fire
(Sweden, 2010, 129 min)

The second movie in the award-winning series, The Girl Who Played with Fire continues the intensity of Danish filmmaker Niels Arden Opley’s first film, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, in unveiling the complex web of Lisabeth Salander’s (Noomi Rapace) past. Back after a year of traveling, Salander is framed as the murderer in three homicides. Essentially the heroine of the film, Salander fights back with the help of her old friend and journalist, Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist). Ready to publish an article exposing a politically driven sex-trafficking ring, Blomkvist, recognizes that the murder of a fellow journalist, and Salander’s convicted murders are braided together by one ring leader. The film’s fast pace will keep audiences riveted, as they witness the tattooed and unconventional Salander defeat the degrading figures of her past and present.
