Love Songs/Les Chansons d'amour (France, 2007, 100 mins.): Christophe Honoré's Love Songs (Les chansons d'amour) is a unique modern-day French musical that was nominated for a number of awards at film festivals around the world (includes the Cannes Film Festival). Filled with an array of well crafted songs about love, Love Songs focuses on the relationships of Ismael Bénoliel, who first appears in a triad relationship with two other women (and all in the same bed!). But, the film ends miles from where it begins, as Ismael whispers, "Love me less but love me a long time" into the ears of his newest lover. Set among the streets of Paris, Love Songs displays a freer, newer, and rawer portrayal of love and death, all adding to the film's original flare and emotional transparency.
