Professional Study Teams

The Rocky Mountain Writing Project (RMWP) is interested in sponsoring Professional Study Teams (PST) throughout Northern Colorado. Facilitated by RMWP Teacher Consultants and housed at home schools, each PST will be uniquely designed to meet the needs and challenges facing individual campuses by:
- Meeting regularly to discuss, read, and write about a pressing educational issue;
- Building community to allow for collaborative, transformative learning;
- Working on a common goal across grade levels and disciplines;
- Following a conceptual framework combined with interactional contexts that allow for discovery;
- Celebrating achievements of individuals and the group as a whole; and
- Producing a written product that captures the spirit of the study team.
Selection Criteria
By agreeing to facilitate a Professional Study Team on your campus, you must be prepared to demonstrate a(n):
- Interest among faculty (Who will likely participate in your PST?)
- Educational focus for study (What will likely be your research question(s)?)
- Needs assessment (What are your goals for the 2009-2010 school year? What problem(s) will you attempt to resolve?)
- Tentative schedule of events (When and where will you meet?)
- Budget (What will you need to buy? What purpose(s) will these items serve? How much funding will come from your participants or school match (RMWP will fund up to 50% of the budget or $250)?
- Evaluation plan (How will you demonstrate your progress?)
- Administrative support (Do you have the backing of your building administrators?)
Application
Answer the above questions in a cover letter signed by the PST facilitator and building administrator. Send letter and enclosed cover sheet to:

Selected PST facilitators will be required to submit an Activity Report with in three weeks of completion of PST.
