U.S. History

Information on the Course

With change everywhere on the historical horizon, UNC invites you to attend our summer institute in US History. Teachers from throughout the nation come to campus every summer to examine the latest content, methods and assessment.

A master teacher with years of success in his own program will join with college faculty to present the details, scholarship and techniques of delivery that anchor the AP* experience in the high school classroom. The reading of the AP* test is a key feature of the institute, as is a day of research to organize materials for curriculum development and unit planning.

Attendees will participate in five days of discussion and research on the best means of achieving success in the US History course. Included in the registration will be an institute dinner, course materials and complimentary textbooks from national publishers. Participants will prepare a teaching unit for review after completion of the week's activities.

"Having two instructors who complemented each others strengths was wonderful. One provided great teaching resources and an operational understanding of teaching AP History while the other provided in-depth knowledge and an invaluable list of resources to further my understanding of American History.
