Involve yourself in the Institute to develop or expand an effective Environmental Science Program. Join us at the base of the Rocky Mountains and Rocky Mountain National Park to:
- Discuss environmental issues facing our wilderness areas and our own backyards.
- Discuss of Urban vs. Rural environmental science
- Expand your knowledge of the program and content requirements.
- Review sample exams and test taking skills
- Share your instructional strategies and acquire new ones
- Perform laboratory experiences you can use with your students
- Examine new laboratory kits from major scientific education suppliers and receive free textbooks and other resources.

Consultant - Kevin Bryan, Panorama City, CA
Kevin Bryan earned two college degrees at Texas Christian University - a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and a Bachelors of Art in German with a minor in Biology, and later earned a Masters in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge. After 11 years in private industry, Bryan became a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He recently went back to California State University, Northridge to work on a masters in Science Education.
As a teacher, his first teaching AP* Environmental Science was in 1998-99, the second year AP*ES was offered. Since 2001, he has graded the AP* FRQ Exam for 6 years and was a table leader at the AP* ES readings in 2007. He has been a consultant in Environmental Science since 2002.
UNC Faculty
Richard R. Jurin has a broad educational background in science, engineering processes, chemistry, biology, and biochemistry. He is also a chartered biologist and Member of the Institute of Biology in London, England. He has worked over 25 years in biochemistry research, with many published papers and chapters. He then obtained another Master's degree in environmental communications, and continued on to receive a Doctorate in environmental education, communication, and interpretation, with an adult/community emphasis from The Ohio State University. He conducted research in wide areas of biochemistry and taught in laboratories in universities and medical schools in England and the United States . He continues research in environmental education and communications, and teaching at the University of Northern Colorado , where he is also the director of the Environmental Studies Program. He is the first author of Environmental Communications, a textbook printed by Pearson Publishing.
