Information on the Course

The Chemistry Institute will focus on exam construction and grading, teaching strategies and teaching content/review of material in Chemistry.

Included in the institute will be:
- What and how much is needed for a quality program
- Student test taking skills to improve achievements
- Demonstrations
- Laboratory (a minimum of 4 laboratory periods)
- Encouragement of post-institute networking among participants
- Special topic material on equilibrium

Consultant
Steve Thompson has been teaching chemistry and physics at Meadowcreek High School for over 20 years where his students excel on entrance into many institutions. He has read the chemistry exam for the last nine years and is College Board endorsed from the southern region and workshop consultant for the College Board. UNC Faculty
Richard Schwenz is an instructor for general chemistry and physical chemistry at the University of Northern Colorado. He has read the AP* Chemistry free response questions for the last nine years and been a table leader at the reading. He is a College Board
Endorsed Consultant for the Western Region in chemistry. At UNC, he has worked with pre-service and in-service high school teachers in developing their content knowledge skills.
