Laura Connolly, Ph.D.
Laura Connolly, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Professor Emerita of Economics, received her Ph.D. and Master’s Degrees at Northwestern University. Her B.A. is from the University of Colorado-Boulder. Dr. Connolly taught at Oregon State University before returning to her hometown of Greeley to serve on the Economics faculty at UNC from 2000 until her retirement in 2011. She came out of retirement in 2013 to work on entrepreneurial initiatives at UNC including the office of Innovation Development and Enterprise Advancement (IDEA) and Innovation@UNC.
As a faculty member, Dr. Connolly’s scholarly work focused on the Economics of poverty and income inequality with an emphasis on public policy and statistical analysis. Her current interests have turned to the economics and policy of higher education.
