In spring 2005, the student body of the University of Northern Colorado voted to amend the Student Representative Council (SRC) constitution to allow the Colleges to form officially recognized student councils with representation in the SRC. It was thought that these College Student Councils (CSCs) would provide improved student representation on the SRC, and thereby increase the SRC’s ability to represent student views effectively to the University administration.
Now three years old, the College Student Council of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS CSC) is thriving and working to better represent students and their needs. Through such strategies as establishing student-faculty liasons, promoting a variety of activities, and fostering club support, the CSC hopes to improve connections between HSS students and the faculty and administration. The CSC is also committed to enriching the academic experiences of students within the College by sponsoring academic presentations and to supporting their academic endeavors by providing them with research opportunities.
If you would like to get involved and truly make a difference, please attend one of our weekly meetings or contact President Audrey Porter.
All students, whether affiliated with HSS or not, may attend our meetings.
The Council meets every Thursday when school is in session at 6:00 p.m. in the Yampa Room in the University Center.
