Shannon Wawrzyniak

Coordinator for Office of Undergraduate Research & Undergraduate Research Journal

Michener L-97

Shannon is currently working toward her Doctorate in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership Program at UNC.  Shannon earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a double major in political science and history, as well as a secondary social studies teaching certificate.  While teaching, Shannon found she had a passion for politics and civic engagement and decided to continue her education at the University of Montana School of Law.  Iin law school, Shannon continued to pursue her passion for politics but also discovered an interest in social justice through her time working with clients at the legal clinics associated with the law school.  Following graduation, Shannon practiced law briefly before returning to teaching where she believed she could hopefully ignite a passion for engagement and justice in students who could make a difference.  As a high school social studies teacher for the last ten years, Shannon has taught a number of advanced courses while incorporating socially conscious curriculum.  She is looking forward to bringing her experience, scholarship, and passion for political engagement, civic responsibility, leadership and social justice to the President’s Leadership Program and its curriculum.

Margaret McKeown Kelley

Office Administrative Assistant

(970) 351-2940

I am the Administrative Assistant here at the Center for Honors, Scholars and Leadership. I truly enjoy working with the faculty, staff and the students at UNC and have worked at HSL since February, 2010. There is never a dull moment in this office. In addition to being the Administrative Assistant for the Honors Program and the President’s Leadership Program, I am also the Administrative Assistant for the Life of the Mind program in HSL. I have a Bachelors of Science Degree from UNC in Business Management Administration Science. In my spare time I love to cook, read, and go on walks with our yellow Labrador. I also especially enjoy spending time with my husband, my teenage son and my family.
