About the Office of Undergraduate Research
The Office of Undergraduate Research was founded in Spring of 2011.
Structure
The Office of Undergraduate Research is led by the Faculty Fellow for Undergraduate Research reporting to the AVP (Assistant Vice President) for Undergraduate Studies with an indirect line to the AVP for Research. The Center for Honors, Scholars & Leadership provides office space and administrative support consisting of one undergraduate student employee supervised by a Graduate Assistant with additional support and coordination provided by the Associate Director for Honors.
Purpose of OUR
- To support undergraduate research across all colleges
- Provide a hub that offers opportunities and recognition of achievements and on-going projects
- To enhance public recognition of undergraduate research excellence
- To provide students with a place to obtain financial support and grants for research
- To reward exceptional undergraduate research campus-wide
- To provide researchers with opportunities to present their research to a wider audience
- To provide opportunities for networking, cross-pollination, and collaboration between programs and colleges.
Advisory Board
The Office of Undergraduate Research will establish an advisory board with one representative from each college appointed by the dean of that college for a two-year term, plus one student representative selected by Student Senate. Initially one half of the Board members will be appointed for one year terms. It is envisioned that the Advisory Board will hold meetings once a semester to provide direction and advice to the Office of Undergraduate Research.
