Civic Engagement Initiatives
The Center for Honors, Scholars and Leadership has always been a campus leader in civic engagement, community service, experiential leadership opportunities, and sustainability education through its various program arms. Additionally, the Center has spearheaded several past major endeavors including Earth Day, the 2008 Gang Prevention & Intervention Summit, and Embracing Community, Together. Over the past two years, HSL has continued to evolve its structure creating new affiliations with off campus community-based organizations. American Democracy Project &
e-Citizenship initiative
University of Northern Colorado was selected as one of 34 universities to participate in national project to study social networking and research innovative ways for institutions to harness the technology in preparing students to be active and engaged members of society. This project will be led by the Center for Honors, Scholars and Leadership.
