Honors Report

Fall 2009

The Center for Honors, Scholars and Leadership (HSL) moved into the new academic year with changes already on the horizon with two new graduate students, a new optional First Year experience course, and the Sustainable Communities Summit. By mid-semester Kaye Holman surprised many by announcing her intentions to step down from her position as Associate Director of HSL to pursue her Doctoral degree full time. Tears were not uncommon as Kaye broke the news to the Honors students who had come to know her as their mentor and as the energizing force of Honors and HSL.

This semester's Honors Report includes not only an interview with Kaye, but also stories from our Honors students regarding their life-changing study abroad experiences, internships, as well as a recap of the honors events told by none other than the honors students themselves. Ashley Ruesgen organized the honors students by recruiting "Honors Correspondents" early in the semester. We have both the stories that they wrote along with their bios and photos for this edition. If you are interested in becoming a correspondent for Spring Semester, be sure to contact Ashley!

Thank you Ashley Ruesgen, Editor of the Fall 2009 Honors Report!
