WHAT: Mexican American Studies Club is looking for volunteers to tutor students in K-5th grade in a variety of subject areas

WHO: Anyone! If you’re interested in working with kids, teaching art (no particular skill level needed) and learning more about Mexican American culture, this is a great opportunity!

Perpetual Motion Program

WHAT: This program was designed to help kids who ‘don’t fit’ in the typical youth athletic stereotype. The premise is simply to give every child an opportunity to use all their body muscles in a fun, exploratory setting using a structured “perpetual motion” circuit. The program is designed for children with mild needs who are able to walk and independently follow an ‘obstacle course’ activity format.
WHEN: ongoing—Wednesdays (3-4pm and/or 4-4:45pm); Fridays (3:45-4:45pm). Volunteers need to be able to commit to helping out on a monthly basis for a given day(s)/time(s)

Exhibits Volunteers

WHAT: Exhibits volunteers assist the exhibits team with creating, designing and building exhibitions centered around collections objects and the museums’ educational goals. Projects may include designing, constructing, painting and mounting exhibit furnishings; sculpting mannequins; researching, writing, designing, constructing, and printing of exhibit panels and labels.
WHEN: ongoing—Flexible Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
WHERE: Through the Greeley Museums
WHO: Ability to work with a team, computer literate, capability of moving 20 pounds of weight, either previous experience with or interest in learning to work with construction tools

Hazel E. Johnson Research Center Volunteers

WHAT: Volunteers in the Hazel E. Johnson Research Center are responsible for handling 2D artifacts such as maps, photographs and other old documents. Projects may include genealogy research, creating finding aids, transcribing oral histories, cataloging or describing documents, and scanning documents.
WHEN: ongoing-- At least once a month for a minimum of two hours at a time Wednesday-Friday 9-4pm, Saturday 10:30-3:30pm or Tuesday 9:00-4:00pm
WHERE: Through the Greeley Museums
WHO: Volunteers need to be computer literate, have good attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

WHAT: Volunteers are needed to help with the Creative Community, which helps Greeley’s refugee population (mainly Karenni and Karen people groups of Burma) learn the sewing arts to introduce garment construction to provide items for their families and community.
