President's Leadership Program
Application Procedure

All applications must contain:
- Application form
- Detailed resume
- Official high school transcript
- Two letters of recommendation (either enclosed or mailed separately)
Applications will be accepted and reviewed starting January 1, 2012. The deadline is April 30, 2012, but early applicants are encouraged and will be given preference. Applicants will be notified within six weeks concerning their eligibility for an interview. In-state applicants will be required to have a personal interview with PLP staff. Interview days will be scheduled in Greeley, Denver, and Colorado Springs. Out-of-state applicants will be required to complete a personal interview when here for a campus visit.
After the interview, if granted, applicants will be informed of their PLP admission status as quickly as possible, usually mid summer.
Selection Criteria
PLP students are selected for their leadership experience and potential, academic excellence and demonstrated interest outside of self.
What to expect once you apply
Upon receiving your application, our recruiting and selection coordinator will email you to let you know that we (A) received your application; (B) whether it is complete or not; and (C) what the next steps are.
We will contact you no later than Tuesday, May 8th, regarding your status as a candidate for the interview process
The interview process is as follows:
- In person interview required; we will try to accommodate out-of-state students
- Twenty minute panel interviews with up to eight community members serving on the panel
- Dates TBA
- Location TBA
A letter will be sent by the end of May, regarding your admission into the program
If selected to be in the PLP class of 2012, we request that you attend one of the first four New Student Orientation dates.

All High School Seniors with an interest “Beyond Self” and a desire to develop their leadership skills are invited to a President’s Leadership Program (PLP) Sneak Peek.
If you’re the type of person who seeks life-changing experiences and wants to inspire other’s lives too, then checkout UNC’s President’s Leadership Program. PLP is a four-year program that helps students explore their values, expand their skill set of leadership tools, and prepare them for leadership positions beyond college.
PLP hosts Sneak Peek days where prospective students visit UNC and find out more information. Space is limited. Register today!
PLP Sneak Peek days
February 17 & March 30, 2012 from 11:00am - 2:30pm
Students will be provided lunch at Holmes Dining Hall (we rent out the Banquet Room) and will get a presentation on the basics of PLP and what the program entails. The prospective students will also hear from current students about their experiences in PLP. Following the conclusion of lunch, students will have the opportunity to come visit the office and ask more questions and/or take a campus tour.
