Activities

Along with academics, the President’s Leadership Program provides many opportunities for students to participate in social and community activities. Below are just a few of these.

FALL RETREAT

First year students join the sophomore class for a fall retreat prior to the start of school for fun and excitement. Students participate in team building activities, listen to guest speakers, and reflect on leadership and the year to come.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS

Past student projects have included volunteering with Partners, tutoring younger students, participating in Habitat for Humanity, starting a recycling project and coaching younger students. Each year PLP completes one or two large service events that benefit the Greeley area.

For more information on Honors, Scholars and Leadership involvement with Civic Engagement, see the Civic Engagement Initiatives page.

SPEAKER SERIES

PLP students have the opportunity to hear from some of the state’s most distinguished leaders. Speakers are a regular part of many PLP classes, as is a quarterly Speaker Series in the evenings. Past speakers include UNC President Kay Norton, Senator Hank Brown, Wells Fargo Metro Denver President Matt Lynett and business coach Kelly Wyngarden.

EL POMAR LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

Every spring semester, a select group of PLP students travel to the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs to participate in the El Pomar Leadership Summit with leadership students from other universities across the state. Students listen to guest speakers, participate in workshops, meet other college students, and dance the night away!

“The El Pomar Leadership Summit was a great place to meet all the other leadership groups from around Colorado and to develop more advanced leadership skills.” PLP Student
