Prospective International Students
To have the greatest opportunity to experience American collegiate culture, we encourage all international students to live on campus. If you are under 20 years of age and have fewer than 20 credits, you are required to live on campus for one academic year.
Housing Options
As a student at Northern Colorado, there are many options available to you, however, there are a few choices that are most popular among our international population. Lawrenson Hall, University Apartments and University Owned, Off-campus houses are good choices because they are our only housing facilities that remain open during winter and spring breaks. These options also all have kitchens and do not require you to purchase a university meal plan; although, that is an option if you are interested. University Apartments is a choice that many of our graduate students and families select because it is open year round, and offers 10-month, 12-month, or month-to-month leases. However, if you do not need housing during winter or spring breaks, you may consider any of our on-campus housing choices. All of our campus housing options include all utilities, local phone service, extended basic cable television, and high-speed internet.
Early Arrival
To help you become acclimated to your new environment and settle in before classes begin, we allow international students to move into their housing assignment the Tuesday prior to the residence halls opening for the semester. There is a small nightly charge if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity. What to Bring
Because it is often times difficult to bring many personal items with you when you travel, we can provide bedding for your first week on campus that would include a set of sheets, blanket, pillowcase, pillow, towel, and washcloth. This will allow you time to make necessary purchases to make your space your home.
Applying For Housing
To have the best possible choices for on-campus living, please complete your on-line housing and dining application as quickly as possible at https://studenthousing.unco.edu. If you are interested in applying to live at University Apartments, please complete the appropriate lease for the length of your stay and either fax to 970-351-1950 or mail with your housing deposit to:
