To create and extend student learning beyond the traditional classroom and foster connection, inclusion, development, and academic excellence.

Vision

Residential Learning Communities at the University of Northern Colorado are intentional attempts to connect a student’s curricular and co-curricular experience and promote learning in a residential environment. The communities promote collaboration and interaction with faculty, staff, and students in a way that compliments the academic experience and fosters diverse interactions. Each community is built around a specific program of study, shared interest, or affinity group which directs the vision in that specific community.

Gender Inclusive Community

Gender Inclusive Community

This community allows students of different genders to live together in the same room.

Pet Friendly Community

Pet Friendly Community

A community where students can live with either their dog or cat. All pets must go through an approval/qualification process before being brought to campus.

Transfer Students Community

Transfer Students Community

Transfer students can connect with each other in this community. Students will have access to campus resources, develop networking skills and easily seek assistance in major selection or other career advice.

Women's Community

Women's Community

This is an all women's community located in Wilson Hall. This community allows students to form a support network and explore women's issues.


Biology Community

Biology Community

As a member of this community, you will be able to interact with Biology faculty members outside the classroom, participate in events and activities hosted by the Biology department and receive in-hall academic advising. Students living in this community will also be co-enrolled in BiO 110.

Criminology & Criminal Justice Community

Criminology & Criminal Justice Community

The Criminology & Criminal Justice Community encourages academic and professional success through networking opportunities and on-campus socializing with other Criminal Justice majors.

Cumbres Community

Cumbres Community

This community is for students who are planning to teach in the K-12 schools and are working toward an English as a Second Language (ESL) or Bilingual/Bicultural endorsement.

This community is open all students that have declared the ISET/INDS Elementary Education major.

First Generation

First Generation

The First Generation residential learning community builds a bridge from home to a university academic experience for first generation students. The Center for Human Enrichment works with students whose parents or legal guardians do not hold a bachelor's degree or are students that have independent status and are living outside the support of a natural or adoptive parent.

Gender, Romantic and Sexual Identities

The Gender, Romantic and Sexual Identities community’s mission is to provide a space for students to learn and explore their own identities as they navigate the broader university community. This Residential Learning community focuses on awareness of the gender and sexuality spectrums. Through advocacy, education, and supportive spaces, we hope to develop dialogue, reflection, and empowerment, resulting in the thoughtful discussion of marginalized identities to advance equity and inclusion at the University of Northern Colorado.

Global Village

Global Village

The Global Village Community is focused on international living and experiencing college through a global lens. Students will have the opportunity to live with domestic students interested in studying abroad, as well as other international students.

This program is designed to provide you support in meeting your Honors requirements and gives you plenty of opportunities for social interaction and involvement with other Honors students and faculty outside of the classroom.

The “Learn to Lead” leadership community is intended for new UNC students who have a drive to be leaders on campus. Residential Education programs will focus on activities for students to engage in UNC and Greeley communities. Returning residents will be presented with opportunities to mentor and new students will be actively challenged to become leaders at UNC.

If you have declared business as your major, you will be able to participate in student clubs for business majors, form relationships with faculty mentors outside of the classroom and be co-enrolled in BA 150 where you will meet other business students.

The Outdoor Pursuits Residential Learning Community (RLC) is designed to bring students, who have a passion for the outdoors and adventure, together in one community.

If you like the arts, music, theatre, dance, or anything similar, this is the place for you! All students who have declared a PVA major are welcome in this community!

Pre-Nursing Community

Pre-Nursing Community

If you have declared a pre-nursing major then this is the community for you! As part of this community, you will be able to form closer relationships with nursing advisers, form study groups with other pre-nursing students and will be co-enrolled in BIO 110.
