Campus Involvement
Getting Involved On the UNC Campus!
Getting involved on campus has never been easier! The Department of
Housing & Residence Life encourages and promotes residence hall students
to get involved in floor, hall, and campus activities.
As a Resident in our community we want you to get involved. More
importantly, there is meaning behind your involvement. As a residence
hall student we want our students not only to have fun social
opportunities, but participate in activities that aid in the discovery
of educational experiences, diversity awareness, and community service
initiatives.
Ways to get involved:
Floor Council - Each floor has a council that assist the RA’s by addressing floor issues, creating a newsletter, creating exciting bulletin boards, assisting with the creation of floor activities, and much more. If you are interested in joining floor council, talk to your Resident Assistant and they will give you all the information you need.
Hall Council - By joining hall council you serve a population
ranging from 100 to 600 students. The hall council is led by a strong
core group of hall council members that are strong student leaders
within the hall. In hall council you can expect to plan large scale
activities such as battle of the bands, karaoke nights, video game
tournaments, formals, etc. Beyond the fun activities, hall council is
the voice for the students in the hall; therefore, issues are discussed
and decisions are made that help to improve the halls. If you are
interested in joining hall council talk to your Hall Director
and they will give you all the information you need.
Residence Hall Association - The Residence Hall Association is a student run organization whose purpose is to provide communication, education, and leadership development opportunities for student leaders in the residence hall system. Imagine a large group of students serving all of the residence halls. This is the forum where information is distributed, ideas created, and proposals brought forth to the department administration. If you are interested in joining Residence Hall Association talk to your Hall Director and they will give you all the information you need.
