West Campus Residence Hall Complex
Opening Fall 2008
The initial phase of the New West Campus Residence Hall Complex, a $58 million dollar project, is scheduled to open in Fall 2008 and will house 348 students in suite-style rooms with private bathrooms. Floor plans for phase one of the New West Campus Residence Hall Complex.

The second phase of the New West Campus Residence Hall Complex, scheduled to open Fall 2009, will replace the existing McCowen Hall and will house 373 students in state-of-the-art facilities that will also include multimedia seminar and meeting rooms as well as 40 different study spaces.

Amenities and Features:
- The main floors of each building will include two secured entrances; a 24 hour staffed reception desk, two main lounges, game room, music practice room, kitchen, vending and conference rooms with multi media equipment
- From each floor lobby, two separate wings will house a cluster of 25-40 students; each wing will include its own floor lounge, kitchen, laundry room, vending & recycling alcove, and study lounge
- 162 four-person suites offer single and double bedroom options, a common shared living room, 9' high-stepped ceilings, a common bathroom with separate shower and toilet rooms and individual closets
- 69 single rooms with private bathrooms
- 40 study areas throughout the complex are available for individual or group study
- Operable windows and natural light to all bedrooms, suites, corridors, lounges, and study areas
- Outdoor patios adjacent to main floor lounges with spaces providing a wide range of accommodations for small and large groups for indoor & outdoor meetings, social/educational events and recreation

Buy-A-Brick Campaign
Want to buy a piece of history? Feeling a bit nostalgic? Built in 1963, McCowen has been home to many students over the years and we would like to offer you the opportunity to keep the memories of your time here at UNC alive by buying a McCowen Hall brick when it is razed in May 2008. Cost is $10 + shipping & handling and all funds raised will be used to support programmatic events in the residence halls.
