Diane Basset Wins the Oliver P. Kolstoe Award

Heartiest congrats to Honors Adviser, Diane Basset, who was recently recognized with the Oliver P. Kolstoe Award for her work on the transition to adulthood of youth with disabilities. As reported in UNC Today back in May: “The Council for Exceptional Children’s Division on Career Development and Transition presents the award to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the field of career development and transition through means other than direct classroom instruction.”

Honors Students Graduated with Distinction

Cheers were heard far and wide in recent months as the following Honors students graduated from UNC with Honors Distinction:

  • Jeanna Adams, whose thesis title was Semantic Development in a Young Child with a Cochlear Implant: A Case Study.
  • Amber Courage,  whose thesis title was Diet and Nutrition for Active Individuals.
  • Katie Goulet, whose thesis title was An Applied Thesis in Assessing Organizational Needs for the Successful and Efficient Long-Term Operation of the International Film Series.
  • Megan Hoodenpyle, whose thesis title was Bilingual Speech Therapy and Aphasia: A Cultural Approach.
  • Alli Howe, whose thesis title was Communication, Cognition, and Culture: A New Structure for Adolescent HIV Prevention Curriculum.
  • Amy Tadehara, whose thesis title was The Art of War: A Comparative Study of the Militaries of Medieval China and Japan.
