SHC Elections Report for 06-07 Officers
SHC Elections Report for 06-07 Officers We had an enthusiastic turn-out for our annual SHC elections at the end of March. About 25 people showed up and squeezed into the Honors lounge to hear and vote for the candidates running for SHC offices for this upcoming year. Speaking to a packed room, candidates for each office gave their “campaign” speeches and were then locked in the kitchen (according to not-so-parliamentary procedure) while the audience debated. The candidates didn’t manage to come back to the lounge with any snacks, but they were given a treat of another sort. Being the diplomatic Honors students that we are, the crowd opted for the “win-win” strategy, voting all candidates into their respective offices as Co-VPs. This means we’ll have quite the council next year with Co-VPs in every office except President, but we couldn’t let all that willing talent go to waste. Please read on for introductions from each of the incoming SHC Officers for 2006-2007 to learn more about this eager and enthusiastic crew!

Hey there! My name is Kyle Fabatz. I’m from Colorado Springs and am majoring in music education at UNC. I’ve been elected Co-VP of Finance with my friend Chris Appleby. We plan to make the financial endeavors of the Student Honors Council more visible to those involved with Honors next year by hosting “money talks” every so often for anybody and everybody to see what’s going on with the money. I love playing the drums, racquetball, going skiing, eating Chipotle, and hanging out. Thanks for electing me and I’ll see you in the fall! Co-Vice Presidents of Public Relations
Hello again! My name is David Zartman. and I am a double major in physics and music. As such. I still have two senior years ahead of me before I graduate. I was re-elected as the Vice President of Public Relations and hope to continue developing relations with the honors alumni. Plans in the works include having blurbs about who they are and what they are doing as well as putting all abstracts and theses online so that they are easily accessible to the general populace.
Hello, my name is August Heckenbach. You may remember me from other SHC posts such as VP of Finance and Co-VP of Finance. After two years peering over account balances, burrito order forms, and flyers, I have decided to give my position to two gentlemen of equal, if not superior talent: Chris Appleby and Kyle Fabatz. I will be going on to help David Zartman with the Honors Report as the new Co-VP of Public Relations. I am a going to be a Senior Music Education Major. If anybody needs me, you can most often find me in the library working on my thesis. Director and Co-Vice Presidents of International Film Series
Hi! I’m Katie Goulet, your new director of the International Film Series. I had a great time serving as Vice President of Social Affairs last year and am looking forward to the new adventures and challenges that directing IFS will bring this year. I hope to continue in the spirit of collaboration that last year’s director, Rob Tait, encouraged with other campus organizations and to build on the great potential that IFS has for reaching campus and community audiences.
I’m Angie Bartleson, a junior psychology major and Co-Vice President of the International Film Series for 2006-2007. IFS shows films that provide great insight into other countries, cultures, and ideas. I’ve enjoyed helping out with IFS over the past two years and hope to help the series grow on campus and in the Greeley community. See you at the movies!
My name is Bethany Harrington, and I am a sophomore psychology major. I’m also the new Co-Vice President of the International Film Series. Becoming Co-Vice President of Community Service allows me to further my drive to help fellow peers and citizens. My goal this next academic year is to get everyone involved in giving back and to establish a name for Honors in our community as being proactive and compassionate.
