Welcome to the
Fall 2004 edition of the Honors Report

Greetings to one and all! It is a pleasure to welcome you to the site for the Honors Report, the newsletter of the Honors Program at the University of Northern Colorado. The Honors Report is being published on the Web for the second year in a row and is doing well. We hope you enjoy this issue.

The Student Honors Council has once again started the semester with a bang. There have been volleyball games, the Welcome Back BBQ, the New Student Workshop, and a pizza seminar, with more plans in the works. To become involved, read the Officers’ Reports and volunteer wherever your interests lie.

I am happy to announce that we have a new Honors Director, Dr. Marie Livingston, who comes from UNC’s Department of Economics and is also the Life of the Mind Director. She has a background in a wide variety of subjects, having pursued degrees in chemistry and physics before changing her major to economics. As the Life of the Mind Director, she has already been involved in Honors education at UNC for a number of years and is a wonderful resource to students and faculty alike. We had a wonderful faculty turnout at the Welcome Back BBQ, in part because Marie took the time personally to invite faculty to this event. Thank you, Marie!

There is also some fabulous news regarding our Assistant Director. Debra Holman is now working full time in the Honors Office! She is a superb adviser and coordinator, and it will be wonderful to have her be able to pour all of her prodigious energy into the Honors Program’s continuing developments and activities.
