A Big Hello from UNC's Honors Students
A big welcome from the University's finest!

Hello everybody! It is a pleasure to welcome you to the University of Northern Colorado’s Honors Program online newsletter. We hope you like our new format.

We’ve had 38 new and current UNC students join the Honors Program this fall. They are an energized and enthusiastic group and are already adding to the culture and spirit of Honors here on campus.

The Student Honors Council has hit the ground running. Showing their commitment toward making this a great year for Honors, they’ve already sponsored a New Student Workshop and the Back to School BBQ, Pool Party, and Retreat. You can read about those recent events, as well as review the individual officer reports in this issue of our newsletter.

The Honors Program has a new director this year. Dr. Richard Trahan, whom we are very appreciative to have, joined us from the College of Arts and Sciences where he currently also serves as Associate Dean. If you haven’t had the chance to meet him, I hope you’ll take the time to read his Director’s Report to get a sense of his commitment to and enthusiasm for the program.

One new addition to our Honors program is the Intramural Volleyball Team that David Zartman has set up this year. The team plays on Monday nights at 7 p.m. in the big gym at Butler-Hancock. Cheering fans are always welcome, so if you would like to support the team, I hope you’ll come out to see them play.

After taking a look at the new online Honors newsletter, I hope you’ll e-mail your thoughts and comments to us. We want to know what you liked, what you thought we could have done better, and what you would like to see and read about in the future. You can send your comments to honors@unco.edu.

Happy reading!
