News and Announcements

January 25, 2012: Web Sites - There have been some minor rule changes to the web site catagory. Details of the changes are in the Quick Guide for Students and Teachers. The lockdown date for the regional contest at UNC is February 20, 2012. After that date, web site entries will be restricted to viewing only. Students and teachers should be advised to go to the NHD Web Portal www.nhd.org and click on the red button that says "website entries start here". PLEASE NOTE: students should NOT go to the standard Weebly site, www.weebly.com. This will cause problems down the line. When web site entry accounts are set up at the NHD Web Portal (nhd.weebly.com), a unique URL is assigned. The URL will be formatted as such: http://17427217.nhd.weebly.com. The bold part of the URL is the unique 8-digit ID for the web site entry. Students and teachers should be sure to note this 8-digit ID because they will need to fill out this information when registering for the NHD contests. Be sure that the web site is published before the registration deadline of the contest. The URL and 8-digit ID should be e-mailed to NHD Regional Outreach Coordinator, Tom Schemp, by February 21, 2012 for distribution to the judges.

January 25, 2012: From the State Office - We have changed our name to “National History Day Colorado” in an attempt to avoid confusion with History Colorado (our State Historical Society).

January 30, 2012: Registration Deadline - The previously posted registration form had a registration deadline for the 2012 contest as February 3rd. This was incorrect. The correct deadline is Feb 17th, 2012. An updated registration form is downloadable under the Registration link in the menu-bar

NATIONAL HISTORY DAY RECEIVES THE NATIONAL HUMANITIES MEDAL FROM PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

March 6, 2012- The 2012 National History Day at UNC was a great success, thanks to all of the students who entered their projects, their teachers, the many volunteers who particpated as judges, and the faculty and staff of the History Department at UNC. We look forward to 2013, as we seek to engage more schools in the contest. Congratulations to all of this year's regional contest winners, and good luck at state!!
