Mary Borg grew up in the Chicago area, received a B.A. in American Studies from Sweet Briar College and taught social studies in Boulder while putting her husband through law school. After a lengthy hiatus from teaching because she was busy raising five sons, Ms. Borg returned to teaching in the early 1980s. She has taught American History survey classes at the University of Northern Colorado since 1990, receiving her M.A. in History from UNC in 1994. Ms. Borg supervises History majors as they student teach in secondary schools and and this year is involved in the STEP classes and is teaching Colorado History.
She is the author of Writing Your Life: An Easy-to-Follow Guide to Writing an Autobiography, Writing Your Life: a Guide for Young Adults, and co-author with William Virden of the newly published Go To The Source: Discovering 20th Century U.S. History Through Colorado Documents, Go To The Source: a Teacher's Edition, and My Colorado, a workbook for elementary students. My Colorado has been translated into Spanish as Mi Colorado.
