Recommended Admissions Criteria
- Minimum gpa of 3.0 when converted to the US grading scale
- Proof of secondary school graduation or the equivalent
- Proof of English Language Proficiency
- Transfer applicants must be in good standing at the institution most recently attended.
- Academic requirements are based on the number of hours of university work attempted and your cumulative gpa. (gpa used for admissions purposes only)
- 12 or more transferable semester hours – 2.4 minimum gpa (US scale)
- All previous university records must be submitted; failure to do so may result in denial of your application
- A maximum of 60 semester credits from two year institutions may be applied to UNC graduation requirements
- A maximum of 90 semester hours from four year institutions may be applied to UNC graduation requirements
- Applicants transferring fewer than 12 credit hours must also submit a secondary school transcript and document English proficiency.
- If you are transferring from a US college or university
- Document your English proficiency. Documentation accepted:
- TOEFL score – 520 PBT, 197 CBT or 70 IBT or an IELT score of 7; submitted directly to UNC from testing agency. (UNC school code is 4074) Higher scores are required for business majors: 550 PBT, 213 CBT, 80 IBT.
- Completion of a degree program from an accredited US institution within the previous two years
- Students without the above can apply for admission to UNC’s Intensive English Language Program or for admission conditional upon completing an Intensive English Program
