About the Graduate School
The staff of the Graduate School and International Admissions exists to advance graduate education and scholarship by serving applicants, graduate students, graduate faculty and the University community.
We are responsible to:
- Promote graduate education, positive learning communities and diversity in all its forms, including but not limited to intellectual and demographic
- Advocate for graduate student success
- Initiate recruitment events for all graduate and international programs
- Receive and process all applications to the Graduate School and International Admissions
- Support graduate faculty members’ and students’ scholarly development and inquiry
- Provide professional development events and community for all graduate students
- Encourage, engage and support graduate student research and teaching through the GTA and GA programs
- Coordinate the disbursement of scholarships and assistantships
- Coordinate activities with the Graduate Student Association to support student research and creative works
- Provide graduate student professional development in conjunction with Center for Enhancement of Teaching and Learning – (GTA Conference and ongoing development)
- Provide new graduate student orientation
- Partner with Graduate Council to support, advance and advocate for graduate education
- Partner with the Office of Extended Studies to promote distance and online graduate education
- Provide processes and procedures ensure timely completion of graduate program requirements
- Committee selection for comprehensive examinations, thesis, capstone, and dissertation
- Serve as neutral party in resolving academic problems
- Monitor program completion, graduation compliance, thesis, capstone, and dissertation standards
- Review and approve all graduate curriculum
- Approve faculty status (graduate lecturer, graduate faculty equivalent, graduate faculty and doctoral research endorsement).
