Welcome back! We are excited for everyone to be back on campus for another fantastic semester. We have a lot of great things that will be taking place this semester. Keep an eye out for information in future newsletters. Below is a link to our spring calendar where you can find information about all of our events coming up in the Spring semester.
Spring 2014 Preview!
Student Safe Zone Training:
Do you want to become a better ally to your GLBT friends? Do you want to become a certified ally for others in the GLBT community and UNC? Then sign up now for the two spring student Safe Zone trainings! Safe Zone trainings are help each semester to better student allies by arming them with the knowledge needed to better serve the GLBTA community at UNC. This semester we will be holding two student Safe Zones taking place on Tuesday February 25th and Thursday April 24th. Faculty/Staff Safe Zone Training:
Do you want to better yourself as an ally for GLBT students at UNC? Are you looking for a way to better connect with students on campus? GLBTA will be holding two Safe Zone trainings for faculty and staff in the spring semester. We offer two separate dates and times for the convenience of all UNC Faculty and staff members. We will hold this semesters Safe Zone Trainings on Tuesday March 11th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and Wednesday April 23rd from 9:00am to 12:00pm. If you are interested in going through these trainings or need more information email us Glbta@unco.edu.
Comedy With A Twist!
Wednesday, March 12th – 7:00pm – Pikes Peak Ballroom
GLBTA and the University Program Council will be hosting Transgender comedian Jeffrey Jay. Come join us for some stand up followed by an opportunity to ask Jeffery Jay questions about being a transgender individual.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration and March
Monday, January 20th
10:30am MLK, Jr. March @ Greeley Chamber of Commerce (7th Ave. and 9th St.)
11:00am MLK, Jr. Celebration @ Union Colony Civic Center (701 10th Ave)
Join the Greeley community in a celebratory march and celebration honoring the life of Dr. King. There will be a march from the Greeley Chamber of Commerce to the Union Colony Civic Center. Stay for live music, poetry and guest speaker Dr. Lee Jones.
Transgender Day of Visibility: Angie’s Story!
Transgender Day of Visibility – March 3rd, 7:00pm
Join us on March 3rd in the Panorama room for a showing of Photos of Angie. A presentation dedicated to the life of Angie Zapata, a transgender individual murdered in Greeley in 2008.

- Study seeking Lesbian Couple
Richelle Walker, a Counseling Psychology Doctoral Candidate at The University of Northern Colorado, is looking for both partners of a lesbian couple to participate in her dissertation study. The purpose of the study is to better understand the role sexual identity development and attachment style play in relationship satisfaction among lesbian couples.
In order to participate in the study, you must:
· Be at least 18 years old
· Born and raised female
· Reporting current involvement in a romantic relationship with another woman
If you decide to participate, you will be asked to answer some questions online, which will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. Additionally, she will be raffling off two $50 Visa Gift Cards at the end of my data collection. - Spring 2014 Lavender Graduation
Are you graduating in May? If so, this event is dedicated to you! This semesters Lavender Graduation will be taking place on Sunday May 4th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. MARK YOUR CALENDARS TODAY!
