Out of the Shadows, Into the Streets

Join the GLBTA Resource Office for a vigil in memory of the LGBT lives that have been lost this year. The night will feature: Slam Poetry, Keynote speech by award winning Tran advocate, Sara Connell, a march around UNC campus, and a chance to make posters in memory of the lives lost.

‘Out in the Night’ Film Screening with Documentary Star Patreese Johnson

Join the GLBTA Resource Office, Marcus Garvey Cultural Center, and the Women’s Resource Center for the screening of ‘Out in the Night.’ ‘Out in the Night’ chronicles the lived experiences of four African American lesbian friends who are threatened and attacked on the streets of New York. After defending themselves against the man, the women are charged and convicted in the courts. ‘Out in the Night’ highlights the role of the women’s intersecting identities and the importance it played in the news coverage of the incident and their trials. The documentary will be followed by a Q&A and meet & greet with one of the featured women in the documentary, Patreese Johnson.
