Why I give to Team UNC
I have enjoyed donating because it gives me a sense of helping a student as they go through school. Somebody helped me when I was a student, so once I had a steady job I knew it was my turn to help a student. It’s about preparing the next generation in a small and concrete way. I think small things can help. I donate a small amount every month through payroll deduction that is making a difference for our students.

I have been extremely fortunate to be able to teach at UNC for 44 years and be involved with athletics as the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. It has been very rewarding for me to give back to the university by endowing a scholarship in my wife’s name (Linnea Heiny) and also to support our student-athletes over the years. I would strongly encourage all faculty and staff to consider giving back to the university for any cause they would like to support.

As a staff member who works with students every day, I realize the importance of a degree in higher education and also realize that college is a huge expense for most of us.
