The Humanities and Social Sciences Department invites and encourages students to study abroad. At UNC, students can take Geography, Liberal Arts Core, or any number of courses in other disciplines, at international schools in over 60 countries around the world. For more information about opportunities and instructions for applying, please email email@example.com or visit the CIE-Study Abroad Office located on the second floor of the University Center (behind the Information Desk) and talk with a student advisor. After deciding if study abroad is right for you and choosing a school to attend, it is important to talk with your Geography advisor to get approval for transfer credits to the UNC Geography major.
UNC Exchange Programs are ideal for Geography majors. Study in Australia, Botswana, Canada, Fiji, Finland, Ghana, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Sweden, United Arab Emirates and the UK, among other destinations.
*UNC offers 100s of study abroad programs in more than 60 countries around the world. Although geography majors do not have to take courses in geography while abroad, the programs listed above are recommended for those seeking credits in geography. While it is not an exhaustive list of programs from which you can transfer geography credits to UNC, these schools provide instruction in English, are relatively low cost, and in the past have provided a variety of geography courses that will transfer.
