Dates & Times
Both field courses require pre-trip online time and class meetings on the UNC campus: 
Online: July 1 to 22. 
Class Meetings: Saturday July 30: 9:30 to 5pm Sunday, July 31: 9:30 to 5pm and Monday August 1st, 2016, 6:00am to 9:00pm.

The field courses then take place on Thursday-Saturday. There are no meetings in between the UNC class meetings and the field course. Choose Field Trip 1 OR Field Trip 2:

  • Field Trip 1 Colorado River Canoe Trip:
    Thursday, August 4th to Saturday August 6th, 2016. Locations: The lecture will be held at the UNC campus in Candelaria. The field trip will begin and end near Grand Junction, Colorado.
  • Field Trip 2 Colorado River Canoe Trip: 
    Thursday, August 11th to Saturday August 13th, 2016. Locations: The lecture will be held at the UNC campus in Candelaria. The field trip will begin and end near Grand Junction, Colorado. 

Fees: 
The university charges normal tuition for 3 credits and there is participation fee for the outfitter, meals, group gear, guides, and course expenses. You register for ONE of the two different sections of Geography 391. Each section has specific travel dates in the field, described elsewhere on this website.

How to Register:
You can enroll directly after April 4, 2016 by logging in to URSA. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. James Dunn. Enrollment is done on a rolling basis, but please keep in mind that there is a limit of 20 students on each trip. Once you are enrolled, you will be given a timeline with all of the details

Dropping the class: You can drop the class up until the normal drop date for Summer Term B.
