Why Choose UNC?
The Perfect Fit
You don’t have to attend a gigantic university to find rich, diverse opportunities. At the University of Northern Colorado, we’ve found the right balance. We’re large enough to offer engaging academic programs, a wide variety of support services and endless ways to get involved, but we’re small enough to be personal and welcoming. UNC is an inclusive community of highly respected faculty members, dedicated staff and friendly, motivated students.
You’ll feel at home at UNC.
World-class faculty
Our faculty members are dedicated teachers, respected experts, published academics and innovative researchers who share their experience with their students.
What will our faculty teach you? How about what it’s like to…
…perform throughout Europe with a major orchestra
…report on the Olympics in Spain and China
…support space launch operations at the Kennedy Space Center
…study disability support services in Thailand
Higher education with a lower price tag
The University of Northern Colorado costs less than any other major university in Colorado, and frankly, delivers more. Not only will you get a higher education, you’ll get a higher value. That means lower student loan payments, a few less hours at work or a little extra spending cash.
Put a stamp in your passport
We offer hundreds of study abroad programs in over 50 countries and for every major. So pack your bags, sample some local cuisine and travel the world.
Room(s) to be yourself
With eight unique residential communities and dozens of floor plans to choose from, you can find a place to live that fits your personality and lifestyle. We offer many suite-style and single rooms, and amenities ranging from lounges with flat panel TVs in our new West Campus Residence Hall Complex to restored hardwood floors and bay windows in the beautiful historic halls on Presidents Row.
The next best thing to a personal chef
Unlike most universities that employ mere cooks, the University of Northern Colorado has four award-winning and highly respected chefs on staff. With dining halls, food courts, coffee shops and Gourmet-to-Go, UNC provides the choices you want when you want them.
Every chance to succeed
The University of Northern Colorado offers a wide variety of support services designed to help you succeed, including free tutoring, learning communities, a Career Services Center you can use even after you graduate, and more.
More resources than you count. Well maybe…
Get lost in the 17 miles of shelves that hold more than 1.08 million volumes at Michener Library or access one of 9,250 e-books to find the answers you need. At the Skinner Music Library, you can play one of 47,547 scores, explore a variety of music with more than 16,200 CDs or learn from some of the 728 DVDs.
When you aren’t hitting the books.
There’s no shortage of things to keep you engaged and entertained. Enjoy on-campus concerts by the popular bands like The Fray and Boys Like Girls, film series, theatre performances, lecture series, art gallery showings, impromptu jam sessions, performances by comedians and celebrations hosted by our four cultural centers.
Sports, sports and more sports
If you’re an athlete, you’ll love the camaraderie of all our fans and athletic teams. You can scream your head off at an NCAA Division I game, root for our nationally ranked Club Sport hockey team or be part of one of our club or intramural sports teams.
Experience life in Northern Colorado.
UNC is located in Greeley, a friendly community of 90,000 in the heart of northern Colorado. You’ll enjoy 340 days of sunshine, community festivals and parades, movie theaters, an indoor ice rink and live entertainment venues. We’re also just a short drive to Denver, Estes Park, ski resorts and Rocky Mountain National Park.
