Research
Expand your knowledge.
At the University of Northern Colorado, internationally and nationally recognized faculty members guide students in research that allows them to expand their knowledge outside the classroom and delve deeper into their fields of study.
We offer a rich academic environment that gives undergraduate students access to research opportunities that would normally be offered on a graduate level. Our undergraduates conduct research on subjects such as violence and ethics in U.S.-Mexico borderlands, the native people who roamed the region 10,000 years ago, anti-cancer agents in snake venom and the performance of robotic devices in zero-gravity environments.
Each year, the Center for Honors, Scholars and Leadership hosts Academic Excellence Week. Faculty members mentor and work with students, who are given the opportunity to showcase their findings in a professional manner and be recognized for their research excellence.
In addition to working with expert faculty in their academic programs, many of our graduate students get hands-on experience working with one of UNC’s 18 research centers and institutes that specialize in a range of fields such as arts education, business marketing and cancer rehabilitation. These centers and institutes allow students to stay abreast of the latest developments in their field, while also providing valuable services and resources to professionals and the surrounding community. Some offer professional development for educators and educational leaders across many disciplines, while others offer advocacy for students with disabilities or start-up assistance for young entrepreneurs.
