Thank you for choosing the University of Northern Colorado! We look forward to seeing you on campus. We’re here to make your transition to UNC as smooth as possible. As you begin the process of becoming a UNC Bear, rely on this checklist of important things to do before you arrive on campus.

Things To Do Now
Here’s what you need to do as soon as possible so you have lots of options on things like your residence hall assignment and New Student Orientation date:
- Activate your Ursa account online using the onscreen prompts
- Complete a Housing and Dining Contract with your new Ursa user name and password and submit the required $200 deposit. First-year students who are under the age of 20 are required to live on-campus .
Things To Do Next
In the coming months, please check your new BearMail email account frequently for further instructions on how to complete the next steps. You should have received your BearMail account information in the mail. If not, please contact Admissions at 970-351-2881.
- Sign up for a New Student Orientation session.
- Pick your core classes (when you register for orientation).
- Pick your roommate and room.
- Submit Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Priority date is March 1.
- Submit UNC Universal Scholarship Application. Priority date is February 1 with a deadline of March 1.
- Freshmen: Submit official final high school transcripts and, if applicable, AP/IB scores and college transcripts immediately after high school graduation.
- Transfer Students: Submit most recent college transcripts.
- Submit Certificate of Immunization as required by state law to Student Health Center.
Things To Do Before You Arrive on Campus
Please contact your admission counselor or the appropriate university office if you have any questions.
- Submit College Opportunity Fund (COF) application (Colorado residents only).
- Read the Student Handbook and the Housing and Residence Life Handbook before you attend New Student Orientation. Those offered admission to UNC are considered students and should know their rights and responsibilities, as well as what the university does to protect those rights and maintain an environment that’s conducive to learning.
- Submit Student Health Insurance Waiver Request to Student Health Center by the 10th day of classes if you have comparable insurance coverage.
- Classes at UNC will begin on Monday, August 23rd, 2010. The Residence Halls will open on Thursday, August 19, 2010. Check out this list of “What to Bring”.
