Michelle Low

Michelle Low

Michelle Low received her Ph.D. in Chinese and Comparative Literature in 2006 and her M.A. in Chinese Language and Literature in 1998 from the University of Colorado. She received her B.A. in Chinese Studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1993. Prof. Low’s area of specialization is in early medieval Chinese literature and civilization. Her areas of research include literature of displacement and war during the Jin (265-420) Dynasty, early historiography, records of the strange and early fiction, and historical poetry, as well as Chinese language pedagogy.

Prof. Low is currently developing the program in Chinese, and recently co-founded (2006) the Colorado Chinese Language Teachers Consortium (CCLTC). In addition to teaching, she is dedicated to helping students gain international experience through study-abroad. She recently finalized direct study-abroad exchange programs with Shaanxi Normal University in Xi’an, China, and National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan. In addition to the two exchange programs, Prof. Low will lead an annual summer study abroad program in Xi’an China beginning summer 2008.
