Study at the Université François Rabelais, in the middle of the lovely Loire valley? Mais oui!
That has been the answer of many UNC students when they hear of this study abroad opportunity offered by the French program at UNC. This is a true exchange; students pay their tuition at UNC and then go to Tours, France where they can take courses at the Université François Rabelais and at the CUEFEE (Center for Foreign Exchange Students).
“Being able to offer this exchange for our students sets us apart from most French programs. Students have a wealth of course options and cultural opportunities. This is the heart of the Loire Valley, all the châteaux and vineyards are here. Our UNC students are about two hours from Paris and from the ocean. We worked hard to get this agreement with the Université François Rabelais so our students could benefit from the institution’s excellent reputation without paying any extra tuition.” — Dr. Lars Erickson (former member of the UNC French faculty)
Students may also take part in other study abroad opportunities. Please contact UNC’s Center for International Education for more details.
In addition, summer study abroad opportunities await UNC’s French students. Many find the flexibility of a summer program ideal, especially those students who are double majors.
Modern Languages in cooperation with the Center for International Education is very happy to offer a special faculty-led program in Strasbourg, France, during the month of July.
