• The West Campus sometimes suffers from its vast open spaces. These spaces are sometimes intimidating and not supportive of a collegiate atmosphere. Buildings are quite large and the distance between them is lengthy.

• Approximately 30% of the campus' open space is used for surface parking.

• Because of the open space, many consider the campus to be a park for the surrounding community. Commuity members utilize the campus facilities whenver possible.
