This parking table indicates the number of parking spaces
needed to support both students and staff for each enrollment phase. Several
ratios for spaces to population segment were created based on existing
demographics. Ratios are specific to a population segment; faculty/staff,
on-campus single students (residence halls), commuting students, and on-campus
students with family (family housing). The remaining ratios (ie, visitor,
handicap, motorcycles, loading, etc.) were based on the total population.
Using the established ratios the number of parking spaces were calculated
for each enrollment phase. It is important to note that the ratios are
based on little impact from the community's mass transit system or alternative
modes of transportation. As these programs provide additional opportunities,
the ratios will be adjusted accordingly.
As the campus grows to 20,000 FTE it is assumed technology will only require
the equivalent of 15,000 FTE at any given point in time (or æ of
the campus enrollment) to attend class on the campus proper. An additional
5% parking was projected to satisfy the 25% load above the 15,000. Due
to the hybrid of course loads and campus content, it was assumed the additional
5% will satisfy the parking needs for the additional transportation requirements
for off-campus students.
