Recycling - What Can I Recycle?

Paper

UNC is able to recycle almost any item made out of paper. This includes, but is not limited to: office paper, notebook paper, magazines, books (hardcover and paperbacks) and glossy paper. The guiding principle for recycling paper on campus is "Anything That Tears."

Commingled

Aluminum cans, #1 and #2 plastics, glass and cardboard are also recycled on campus. Aluminum cans, plastics, and glass are recycled in virtually every building, however cardboard recycling needs to be arranged with the Service Center. Contact 351-2446 for more information.

Confidential Materials

The UNC Recycling Program also helps protect your identity. We provide accommodations for the secure transport, destruction, and recycling of any and all materials containing confidential information. Confidential materials can range from office documents to examinations. For more information regarding confidential Material recycling, contact the Service Center at 351-2446.
