Computer Equipment and other Miscellaenous Items

UNC has developed a program to aid you with disposal of computer wastes. To have your unwanted computers and monitors picked up for proper disposal, notify Facilities Management by either:

1. Filing out a moving request form on line or

2. Calling Facilities Management at 351-2446 to schedule pick-up.

Departments are able to recycle printer cartridges by using one of the following methods.

1. The employee organization (SPEEC) is collecting old cell phones, spent laser cartridges, and spent inkjet cartridges to raise funds. Deliver these items to Donna Hubbard at the Visitors Center or Carla Engels at UC Tech Support area, give them to your SPEEC representative, or bring them to one of the SPEEC events. These items are sent to a recycling company and redeemed for cash. Funds are used for SPEEC-sponsored events and their scholarship fund.

2. You can send your used cartridges back to the manufacturer directly. Most provide postage paid return shipping labels. Save the original packaging or use the box that comes with the replacement/new cartridge for shipping back the spent cartridge. Place the spent cartridge in the box and use the provided shipping label.
