Facilities Management Policies and Procedures

  • Building Modifications

All work involving repair, maintenance, remodeling, alterations or construction of any type to UNC facilities or grounds must be coordinated through Facilities Management. This is to assure that all codes, insurance, and specifications meet University standards.

Connections or alterations of basic utility systems, such as electrical, gas, steam, vacuum, air, water, etc. shall be made by qualified personnel, under the supervision of Facilities Management.

  • Bulletin Boards

Bulletin boards in common or public areas which are not specific to a department are provided by Facilities Management. Bulletin boards for offices shall be purchased by the requesting department and will be installed by Facilities Management by submitting a TMA Work Request.

  • Chalk Boards and Liquid Marker Boards

Facilities Management will provide all necessary chalkboards or liquid marker boards for classrooms. Chalk boards and liquid marker boards of a specific (unusual) nature or for offices shall be purchased by the requesting department and will be installed by Facilities Management by submitting a TMA Work Request.

All classroom chalk boards and liquid boards are cleaned regularly unless otherwise marked to save. Since water and improper maintenance can cause permanent damage to chalk boards and marker boards, it is requested that any cleaning other than normal erasure be done by Custodial personnel. Special care needs to be taken when using markers for white boards to avoid permanent stains. Each department is responsible for purchase of proper markers from the warehouse.

  • Estimates

Facilities Management does not charge for estimates. Requests for estimates should be submitted to the Service Center on a TMA Work Request.

  • Events

Events and/or reservation of UNC facilities must be made through the Conference Services. Please include any and all equipment, set up, and utility needs when reservations are made.  Contact Conference Services at 970-351-1100

  • Furniture

Classroom furniture and built in laboratory casework are maintained by Facilities Management. Office furniture and other miscellaneous furnishings are maintained as a billable service.

  • Roof Access

Access to roofs of University facilities is limited to authorized personnel only. All roof access must be authorized by the Assistant Vice President of Facilities Management.
