PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Revised Summer 2007
Registration and Costs
Registration is a simple procedure that begins when you complete and submit a registration form available in this brochure, on our website or by calling our office at the number listed below. Professional development course tuition varies course by course. Students are not required to pay for their registration costs up front but instead will be billed by the UNC Bursar's Office. Accounts not paid in full by the end of the month will be assessed a monthly 1.75% finance charge. Course materials costs (textbooks, tapes, etc.) are ordered, assessed by and paid separately. (See Textbook Purchase, below.)
Register for Professional Development courses anytime by mail, phone or fax. Staff members are typically on duty Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (Mountain Time), and our fax, voicemail and e-mail are available to you 24x7.

Registration does not constitute admission to the university. If you are already a student at the University of Northern Colorado and enrollment in the course causes you to be in an overload situation, you must obtain special permission from the Academic Advising Office or your advisor before you register. A UNC student may enroll for more than 18 semester hours per semester only with special permission.
Textbook Purchase
Textbooks and study guides (and often tapes, CDs or other materials) for Professional Development courses are usually available from the UNC Barnes & Noble Campus Bookstore or the Bookstop. If the course is web-based, the syllabus/study guide will typically be on the course homepage and we will direct you there after you register.
If you live in the Greeley area, you can go to the UNC Barnes & Noble Campus Bookstore at 2045 10 th Avenue (located on the lower level of the University Center) to purchase your textbook(s) and study guide(s). You may make your purchase using cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover card.
If you live outside Greeley or simply want the convenience of delivery to your door for a small shipping fee, you can purchase books and materials by calling Barnes & Nobles at (970) 351-2135 or (800) 551-1134, or by faxing your order to (970) 351-1488. To avoid confusion concerning which course section you are registered in (and therefore which textbooks and syllabus/guide you should purchase), be sure to identify yourself as Professional Development student AND give the course and section number when placing your order. You may make your purchase using check, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover card.
In the event your course is cancelled, the UNC Barnes & Nobles bookstore will refund you the cost of the textbook if you have a copy of your receipt. Any marks you have made in the textbook would appear to make it used and you will not receive full credit. If you purchase a "USED" textbook, you would receive the appropriate refund as well. Call UNC Barnes & Nobles bookstore at (800) 551-1134 to make those arrangements.
