EDSE 508-930: SPECIAL EDUCATION LITIGATION PREVENTION (online)
The purpose of this course is for participants to learn how to prevent special education legal conflicts. This course is for school personnel including educators, administrators, service providers and para-professionals as well as parents and families. Actual cases will be studied involving topics such as Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP’s), Extended School Year (ESY), Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE’s), Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), discipline, principal liability, 504 plans, retaliation, and complaint procedures.
