Building a Veteran-Friendly Campus
UNC participated in a webinar offered by Academic Impressions in April 2009 titled 'Building a Veteran-Friendly Campus - Supporting Veterans Reintegration'. Presenters, Steven Frantz, Office of the Chancellor at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, and Donald Pfeffer, Higher Education Veterans Program with the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, shared a case study of the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. This webinar offered campus professionals information on the unique and varied needs of veterans and explored how our campus can implement a support network to meet those needs. Attendees were educated on the deployment cycle, challenges of returning home, helping veterans overcome readjustment issues, understanding laws and policies, and creating a web of support to help veterans succeed.
