Faculty have high expectations for student writing, and often students do not meet those expectations .Students will certainly benefit from working with Writing Center tutors. Faculty can recommend a visit to the Writing Center to students who struggle with writing assignments. Tutors will not "correct" their work; rather they will instruct students so that they can learn to do their own editing and proofreading. We will work with students on these common writing concerns:

  • creating clear and focused writing
  • writing strong thesis sentences
  • organization
  • paragraph structure
  • grammar
  • sentence structure
  • punctuation
  • documentation and citations
  • works cited and reference list
  • MLA and APA
  • ESL

Invite a Writing Center tutor to your class:

A tutor will visit your class to explain the services the Writing Center provides
To request a tutor visit to your class, call 351-2056.
